Watchmen Food Pantry

Watchmen is providing food to students and families and those in need.

Food: Fresh fruits, Dairy such as milk and eggs, meats, cans food, dry food.

Location: Watchmen Community Center

Pick up food box every Thursday from 10am-2pm

Pick up a hot meal every Wednesday from 5:30pm-6:30pm

Why do we have a food pantry?

According to Feed America, 1 of 9 people in Iowa are struggling with hunger, and 1 of 7 kids are struggling with hunger.

We found that to be true. We are in the neighborhood with over 75% of kids on free or reduce school’s pay lunch. Kids come to us with hunger and looking for food.

We are here to transform our society for better but how would anyone focus on a better tomorrow when they are starving today. We found that to be very hard.  We want to help to provide the essential needs to our members and to our community.

What is Watchmen terminology in  food distribution:

We believe takes and gives need to have a balance. If you believe in taking something, you should believe in giving some thing back in value such as time or resources.

Giving unconditional  sound like an awesome idea. I’m sure most good people expectation nothing in return. I’m sure the intention is good but the methodology cause a negative impact on an individual.

When people only waiting for hand off and depending on other to provide them good and services all the time. Those individual will never get far in life. Your are turning them in to a weaker individual.

When people come to get food here, We asked if they like to participate in any activities. I believe people have value and ability to contribute time and resources. We are not forcing them to do anything. All has to come from willingness.  If you want to treat them like a decent human, you have to ask if they like to do something to help out. Watchmen Operations will be one of of the biggest operations in the world. If you willing to do something, we will have a thousand things for you to do.

People need to get involve in order to build a stronger community.

Majority would not participating in anything. Why? This is something very strange and very new to them. Almost never hear of. It’s like no one very ask them to do nothing and believe they can do nothing to the point they themselves believe they have no value to add to the community.

When I ask them if they like to help out, to some people that word is almost doesn’t exist in their dictionary. They are here to get help and not to get involve or to help. So many believe in not doing anything for free but yet they expecting to get everything for free.  How do you build a better community with that mind set. What have the broken society done to them? I now have to unbrainwashed them all.

They may not be financial stable but they are capable of do other things. Let them get involve in something, bring up their value. I value everyone, simply because I believe everyone have value.

I encourage everyone to follow the way of the Watchmen.
